They take practice because of the muscle needed to clamp down on the fret that you’re barring to create a solid tone 🎸
We call these chords by their shape with the most popular form being the E-shape. Here’s an illustration showing why it’s called the E-shape 📌
First picture you can see an E major being played. By sliding the same formation up one fret, such as the 2nd image, and then using your index finger to barre the first fret, this raises the chord up by one fret to an F major chord, however still using the same E-shape ➡️
